Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

Q: Do you have availability for piano/voice/etc.? How do I enroll?

The easiest way to check for our available slots is by registering online. You can check and reserve your lesson slot here!

If you’d like to meet with us (by phone or in person), you can also set an appointment here.

Q: Can I enroll for a trial lesson? Can I do just one lesson?

Absolutely! We offer drop-in lessons, and if you decide to continue with weekly lessons, you get an additional discount, because weekly lessons are discounted compared to the drop-in rate! Just schedule an appointment and we’ll help you get that set up.

Q: I can’t find a lesson that matches my schedule. Do you have a waitlist?

Yes, we do! You can register with our form without enrolling in any lesson/group class, and get access to our Parent Portal, which is a robust system that lets you see our available schedules and register if you find a spot that matches your schedule.

Q: When can I start lessons?

As soon as you sign up! Depending on when you registered and what day of the week is the lesson/group class you reserved, you can come to your lesson on either that same week, or the week after.* Our instructors are immediately notified if a student enrolls in one of their open spots.

*unless specified otherwise

Q: If I sign up, do I have to commit to an entire semester?

Nope. We only require a month-to-month commitment for lessons, as that’s usually the amount of time for students to know if the lesson is a good fit for them. We have a 30-day cancellation policy where we need a written notice (via our Parent Portal) about discontinuing lessons, and you would only have to pay for tuition within that 30-day period. You are still welcome to take lessons within this period.

Q: Do you offer lessons for younger kids?

Absolutely! We offer junior lessons, which are 20-minute weekly lessons designed for younger students with growing attention spans. If you do not find a junior spot in our openings, please feel free to register without enrolling in any classes, and just note down on your registration form that you would like a junior slot with your preferred schedule—we can open one up for you. Please make sure it is within our currently available schedules. Otherwise, you may still register to waitlist.

Q: Do you offer lessons for adults?

You are more than welcome! Our lessons are personalized based on each student, and our instructors are capable and more than willing to teach adult students. There’s no deadline for learning music, and we would love to have you! Register for lessons here.

Q: Do you have group class options available?

Absolutely! You can view all of our group classes here. If you sign up for private lessons in addition to a group class, we offer discounts in your group class tuition 🙂

Q: What is your policy on cancellations/makeups?

We offer video lessons as a makeup. Your teacher will send a video lesson that the student can save and keep for life, and replay at their own pace—this will serve as makeup for the lesson missed. In certain circumstances, we can offer Zoom lessons.

We would need a 24-hour courtesy cancellation notice to be eligible for a makeup lesson. Please see our Parent Portal for our tuition policy on makeup for cancellations.

Instruments/Books

Q: Do you sell instruments?

We have practice pads, drum sets, pianos, and guitars in limited quantities for sale and for rent. If available, we can provide these for you and add the fee to your first tuition. For other instruments, we recommend these shops.

Q: Do you sell books?

We will provide you with your needed books on your first lesson, and this can be added to your first tuition. If you prefer to shop for books yourself or already own a book that you’d like to use, you can let us know and we will waive this for you.

Tuition Questions

Q: How much are lessons?

Lessons are $30 each for drop-ins, but if you enroll for a weekly lesson, that drops down to $28 per lesson.

Q: How is tuition billed?

Tuition is billed monthly at a $109/month* rate.

*rate for Fall 2022, you will be notified of any changes through our several channels

Q: Do you offer discounts?

Absolutely! If you sign up for private lessons in addition to a group class, your group class tuition drops down (depending on which group class). For example, our Broadway class is $65/month, but families enrolled in private lessons get a discounted rate of $40/month. Check out our group classes here.

We also offer discounts for some group classes if a family enrolls multiple students, like our Children’s Choir class for example.

Our yearly registration fee of $30 per student also has a $50 family cap, and for students taking lessons over the summer, we would waive that fee for the semester after.

Q: What is the registration fee?

The registration fee is a once a year fee that will be used as your reservation to hold your place. This helps offset our overhead costs and hours behind the scenes spent into getting you set up and taken care of for lessons. Registration fee is $30 for each student with a family cap of $50.

Q: Do you do refunds on missed lessons?

We do not offer refunds, but if you give us notice for more than 24 hours, you are eligible for a video makeup lesson.

Q: Do you offer scholarships?

Yes! You may apply for a scholarship through our non-profit partner Red Chapel Concert Series.
