Samantha Sayar is a soprano from Atlanta, Georgia. She is currently studying music education with a vocal performance and choral music emphasis at The Ohio State University, where she studies with the area head of the voice department, Dr. Laura Portune. Samantha is also an active member of The Ohio State University Chorale.

In her collegiate career, Samantha has performed as the 2nd Woman in Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and the Souflé Lady in Griffen Candey’s Sweets By Kate. She was awarded the prestigious Wilson Competition scholarship during her first year of college and has since attained the 2023 Irma Cooper Endowment Fund for International Studies. She was also a featured performer at the opening of the Timashev Family Music building in 2022 and the Ohio State School of Music opera scenes program in 2022. She also serves as one of the Soprano section leaders at the University Baptist Church in Columbus.

In addition to her love of classical music, Samantha is passionate about musical theater and acting, as she has performed in Cinderella Kids (Cinderella), Brigadoon (Fiona), Big Fish (Josephine), Dracula (Mina), and A Piece of My Heart (Leeann).

Samantha is excited to meet new students and help them develop into the young artists and musicians they want to be!
