Alexa Clint is a Columbus, Ohio-based performer and arts educator. She received her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the Sunderman Conservatory at Gettysburg College and her Masters’ in Classical Voice from the Manhattan School of Music. She is currently on faculty at Ohio Dominican University, teaching Theatre and Acting, and serving as the faculty advisor for the student theatre group, the Panther Players. She has been a teaching artist with Actors’ Theatre of Columbus, Columbus Children’s Theatre, Discover Opera! (Manhattan School of Music), and the Gettysburg Sings! Children’s Theatre Program, and interned with the Summer Shakespeare Program (McCarter Theatre, Princeton, NJ). Prior to moving to Columbus, Alexa was the Associate Director of Youth Programs at Steps on Broadway dance studio in New York, NY. She is passionate about the role arts education has in the social-emotional development of children and young adults and seeks to make the arts more accessible and engaging for young people of all backgrounds.

During her time at Gettysburg College, Clint co-founded a student-run opera ensemble, raised $10,000 for future student opera projects, and directed the ensemble’s first production of Dido and Aeneas. She was an active participant in campus productions with both the music and theatre departments. Alexa was the first vocalist to win the Sunderman Conservatory Concerto Competition, singing arias from Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah, and was a nominee for the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for her portrayal of Mrs. Gibbs in Our Town. While at MSM, Clint was the teaching assistant for undergraduate and graduate Movement for Singers and Advanced Movement for Singers classes. She has choreographed for City Lyric Opera (New York, NY), McCarter Theatre’s Summer Shakespeare, Music! Gettysburg, Manhattan School of Music Senior Opera Theatre, and Discover Opera!. 

An active musical theatre performer, some of Alexa’s favorite credits include Ghost Quartet (Quartet, Available Light Theatre), Disney’s Newsies! (Katherine, CCT), Something Rotten! (Bea, Gallery Players), A Tale of Two Cities (Lucie Manette, Actors’ Theatre of Columbus), Everybody (Usher/God/Understanding, AVLT), On the Twentieth Century (Lily, Village Light Opera Group), and Ordinary Days (Claire). She has performed internationally in the Trentino Music Festival (Pamina, Die Zauberflote) and the International Gilbert and Sullivan Festival (Kate, Pirates of Penzance and Fleta, Iolanthe). In her spare time, she enjoys reading and cooking with her fiancé and taking walks in Schiller Park.

While at Otterbein she was involved in many productions in many capacities including assistant directing Shakespeare’s The Tempest, performing as Jackie Coryton in Hayfever, doing the makeup and hair for The Diary of Anne Frank, and dialect coaching for A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, and School for Scandal.

Shelby is passionate about helping others and spreading the joy of theatre and music. They were also vice president of the honors society for WGSS, Tri-Iota.

Currently, Shelby is pursuing her master’s of social work at The Ohio State University while working at Red.
